On the Wings of Heroes

A good book title can hint at the theme and give you something to think
about as you read. Once you have finished "On the Wings of Heroes",
share your opinion of the significance of the book title.2. Pick a section of the book where a character has to decide between what he (or she) feels is right or wrong. (Be sure to include the pages in the book for others to reread.) Based only on what you know from the book, contribute your opinion.
3. An author's real life story sometimes adds a deeper level of understanding to the book. Find information about Richard Peck. Discuss what surprised you and how you think it affected the way he wrote this story. (Be sure to cite your source so that other people can read the background information too.)
4. On page 84, Miss Titus gave the students a composition title. On page 89, you get a glimpse into a couple essays. What ideas do you think the students could have included? How would you adjust the composition title to relate to today's young people?
